Appearance and language

Choose a theme, the fonts, the text size, the density of the interface and the display language of NovaFisko.

The Appearance screen adapts NovaFisko to your screen and your habits: light or dark theme, fonts, text size, density of the tables. These settings are personal and saved on the device. They have no effect on the data or on what your colleagues see.

Opening the appearance settings

  1. Click the language menu, which displays the current language.
  2. Choose Appearance… at the bottom of the list.

The settings apply immediately, without a confirmation button. A Preview block shows a sample trial balance with amounts, status badges and both fonts, so that you can judge the result before closing.

Colour theme

Twelve themes are offered, five light and seven dark. The All, Light and Dark filters narrow the list.

Theme Type Character
Papier Light Original light, violet ink
Brume Light Grey-blue, steel accent
Sable Light Warm, cream and brown
Polaire Light Cool, maximum contrast
Lagune Light Green-blue, teal accent
Encre Dark Original dark, midnight blue
Minuit Dark OLED black, neutral greys
Fjord Dark Nordic, sky accent
Ardoise Dark Grey, less glare
Forêt Dark Green, sage accent
Aurore Dark Rose, powder accent
Orchidée Dark Mauve, orchid accent

The Follow system option lets the application switch by itself according to the light or dark mode of your computer: Papier by day, Encre at night. This is the default setting.

Tip

For long data entry sessions, try Ardoise or Brume: their moderate contrast is less tiring than pure black or pure white. For a presentation on a projector, Polaire offers the best legibility.

Fonts

Two fonts are set separately.

Setting Use Choices
Interface font Titles, labels and body text Inter (default), Roboto, Open Sans, Source Sans 3, IBM Plex Sans, Nunito Sans, Lato, Manrope, DM Sans, or System
Figures font Amounts, account numbers and IBANs JetBrains Mono (default), Fira Code, Source Code Pro, IBM Plex Mono, Roboto Mono

The figures font is monospaced: all digits have the same width, which aligns the amount columns to the cent. A specimen displays an invoice reference, an amount and an IBAN in the chosen font.

The System choice uses the font of your operating system, without downloading anything.

Text size

The Text size slider goes from 85% to 130%, in 5% steps. The default value is 100%. The whole interface follows: labels, tables, buttons.

  • Below 100%, you display more lines on a small screen.
  • Above, you gain comfort on a large screen or a high-resolution screen.

Density

The density sets the row height, the margins and the toolbar.

Density Effect For whom
Compact (default) Tight rows, a maximum of entries visible Intensive data entry, large tables
Normal Intermediate spacing General-purpose use
Comfortable Tall, airy rows Touch screen, consultation, presentation to a client

Reduced motion

The Reduced motion option removes the fades and slides between views. Enable it if the transitions bother you, or on a low-powered workstation.

The sidebar that carries the tabs of the company file has three modes.

Mode Behaviour
Automatic Collapsed automatically when the window is less than 1,100 pixels wide, expanded beyond that.
Collapsed Only the icons are visible, whatever the screen.
Expanded Icons and labels always visible.

As soon as you open or close the sidebar yourself with its arrow, your choice is remembered and the automatic mode no longer applies.

Going back to the original settings

Each block has its Reset button. The Reset everything button, at the top of the screen, restores the theme, the fonts, the size, the density and the sidebar to their default values in one go.

Interface language

The application is available in four languages: Français, Nederlands, English and Deutsch.

  1. Click the language menu.
  2. Choose the language. The interface switches immediately.
Note

The interface language is distinct from the company language. The first concerns what you see on screen. The second, set in the company settings, determines the language of the exported documents and of the labels created automatically, such as the name of the periods or the label of the closing entries.

Where these settings are saved

The appearance preferences are kept on the device, in the storage of the application. In practice:

  • they do not follow you from one computer to another: set up each workstation once;
  • in a browser, they are lost if you clear the site data or if you use private browsing;
  • they are independent of the account: on a shared workstation, the last setting applies to the next user.
Warning

Clearing the browser cache erases your appearance preferences, but also the local copy of the company files made available offline. First check that no change is pending synchronisation.
